moonit.com has re-lauched their site with an interesting new feature. moonit.com lets you check the compatibility of your friends. It allows you to see if you are compatible in three areas: romance, friendship and business. The new feature, and what I think is the really interesting bit, “The Matchmaker” gives you a chance to select two of your friends and check if they are compatible. If they are a match you can introduce them. So you can see if the two people who you wish would just get together are right for each other.

The first step is to automatically upload your Facebook contacts onto the site. Next, you select two individuals in your network you wish to match. Once you’ve created a match, Moonit can send your friends a personal message, along with their Facebook photos and a relationship reading, to introduce them. This reading includes a compatibility score and a detailed compatibility assessment that helps the matched individuals understand their relationship potential.

“Our friends were always asking us to set them up, but we couldn’t find an easy way to vet a potential match and make an introduction online,” Moonit.com’s co-founder and CEO Dana Kanze explained. “Now millions of active Facebook users have access to a tool that facilitates the time-honored tradition of matchmaking.”

The quantitative and qualitative components of Moonit’s relationship assessments are driven by a proprietary predictive algorithm, which seeks out the strongest weighted aspect between two individuals to reveal the overriding dynamic of that relationship.

What if a user doesn’t know a friend’s birth date? Moonit allows users to import their contacts from Facebook, which typically contains this information. Once Moonit users run compatibility assessments, they can rank and sort their contacts for future reference and share their relationship scoop with others. And there is no limit to how many relationships users can “moon.”

What is Next?

Moonit will be launching an iPhone application in July 2010. This app will include the ability to access the core functionality of the Moonit website, as well as the relationship alerts. A GPS-enabled “virtual wingman” radar feature will also be unveiled, showcasing compatible Moonit users in your geographic area. For those who do not have iPhones, Moonit will be launching premium SMS alerts during July.
