The problem (and occasional solution) for Apple is Steve.
I argued with him at NeXT to dump the Steve-0-Tastic hardware of the cube, and put NeXTSTEP on generic Intel PCs. He blew his top. Of course, less than 12 months later, hardware fail, and an even more failed attempt to recover by selling NeXTSTEP generically. By that time, too little, too late - MS had upped the O/S ante. Apple hardware is like a Frank Muller watch - over priced and underperforming, but plenty of foamers will still buy it to be in the clique...</description>
